Find wise, trustworthy guides
One of my mentors said
to me years ago, "identify three or four authors or speakers who are
overflowing with wisdom and soak yourself (discerningly) in their work as much
as you can." I have found that to be wise advice, soaking in the
works of folks like, for example, C. S. Lewis. Both his fiction and his
nonfiction embodies Scriptural teaching in rich, fresh, and insightful ways
that open up the book profoundly.
Andy Crouch, who arrives
on campus around noon today for a two day visit, is such a guide. Go
ahead and soak....
